Fourteen-year-old girl Caito Akari (played by Mayuko Fukuda) adopts a cute puppy. At her mother's suggestion, she names the puppy "Socks" and makes "ten promises" with it. Soon after, her mother passes away, and her father, a doctor, is too busy with work to care for Akari, so "Socks" becomes Akari's most loyal companion. At school, Akari has a friend named Hoshi who dreams of becoming a musician. When Akari's father relocates for work, "Socks" is taken in by Hoshi's family. However, when Hoshi (played by Shota Sato) is set to study abroad, Akari's father does not arrive on time to send him off due to an emergency, and Akari misses the chance to say goodbye to Hoshi. In order to make up for the long-term neglect of his daughter, her father decides to resign and open a small clinic, allowing the "family of three" to live together again. As Akari grows up, she becomes busier, spending less and less time with "Socks" and her father. Later, Akari (played by Rina Tanaka) reunites with Hoshi (played by Ryo Kase), who has returned from his studies, and they fall in love. Soon, ten years have passed since the first meeting with Socks, and "Socks" reaches the end of its life. At this moment, Akari remembers the "ten promises" she made with "Socks"…
