Elementary school students Noriaki (Yuta Yamazaki) and Yuka (Takayuki Handata) and their friends debate whether fireworks are flat or round as they ascend. After coming to no conclusion, they become puzzled. To resolve their confusion, they decide to take advantage of the summer fireworks festival and investigate the fireworks tower. After a 50-meter swimming competition between Noriaki and Yuka, Nasa (Megumi Okina), a precocious girl with feelings for both, wants the victor Yuka to accompany her to see the fireworks. However, Yuka ultimately decides to go with the group to the tower instead. In the end, Nasa drags along the competition's loser, Noriaki, but their destination changes to the train station and even further to Tokyo.
