A mafia-controlled underground poker casino suddenly faces a robbery by three tough criminals. The casino boss feels threatened and is determined to find the mastermind behind the attack. They enlist the help of Jackie Cogan (played by Brad Pitt), a skilled enforcer, to investigate and restore order in the underground world. As a seasoned bounty hunter, Jackie is solitary and secretive. What initially appears to be a clumsy robbery scheme designed by three young thugs quickly spirals into chaos with unexpected events, including the casino manager, Markie (played by Ray Liotta), being inexplicably beaten, and the old drunk, Mickey (played by James Gandolfini), being murdered. Jackie begins to peel back the layers and delve deeper into the investigation. However, this marks the beginning of a bloody saga, as a gentle killing spree between gangs is about to erupt. This film is adapted from George V. Higgins' 1974 novel "Cogan's Trade." It is the first feature film that Brad Pitt and director Andrew Dominik collaborated on since "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," and the film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 65th Cannes Film Festival in 2012.
