Cary Scott (played by Jane Wyman) is a middle-aged widow with two children, yet she still has no shortage of admirers. One day, she encounters the new gardener, the son of her late gardener—young Ron Kirby (played by Rock Hudson)—in her garden. After several meetings, Cary learns of Ron's love for gardening, and he takes her to his home. The age difference does not prevent them from falling in love, but their romance faces many challenges. The first to oppose is Cary’s son and daughter; her son even threatens to run away from home if she does not end the relationship. When rumors about the pair spread throughout the town, Cary feels immense pressure. She tries to take Ron to a club party, but they encounter some unpleasant situations. Cary ultimately chooses to separate from Ron, yet they still love each other...
