Physicist Yukawa Manabu (played by Masaharu Fukuyama) returns to Japan from the United States, where policewoman Utsumi Kaoru (played by Yuki Chibasaki) seeks his help. A popular girl in town suddenly goes missing, and years later her body is found. Yukawa's classmate, senior detective Kusanagi Junpei (played by Kazuki Kitamura), arrests a male suspect, but the suspect is released due to lack of evidence. When this man returns to the town, he provocatively appears in front of the girl's family. A hateful atmosphere envelops the entire town. However, on the day of the autumn festival parade, this man is found dead, and everyone in town has a motive for murder, but also alibis. Yukawa, Utsumi, and Kusanagi set out to solve this puzzle.
