Tells the story of emotional entanglements that take place in a private hospital. Director Yasuzo Masumura studied in Italy and is a new force in the post-war Japanese film movement. Notably, in the 1966 remade version by Shochiku director Yōtarō Nomura, Yōji Yamada served as the screenwriter.
