Sandy (Woody Allen) is a well-known director whose comedic works are loved by audiences. Wherever he goes, Sandy is surrounded by his numerous fans, with one female fan even bribing the doorman to hide in his bed, hoping to spend a night with him, which frustrates Sandy greatly. Gradually, Sandy finds that he no longer has the desire to create comedies, yet the serious film he is currently shooting has not received the producer's approval. Moreover, Sandy's troubles do not end there; his girlfriend Doriya (Charlotte Rampling) shows signs of worsening bipolar disorder, his lover Isabelle (Marie-Christine Barrault) has separated from her husband and turned to Sandy with her child, but is unwilling to live with him. On top of that, the uniquely styled violinist Daisy (Jessica Harper) has captured Sandy's heart. At this crossroads in his life, where should Sandy go?
