Nick (played by Aaron Eckhart) is a spokesperson for one of the world's most profitable and controversial industries—the tobacco industry. Every day, he not only has to use his silver tongue like a salesman to persuade people to smoke, but he also has to come up with various ways to deal with protests from anti-smoking groups, environmental organizations, and scientific communities, doing everything possible to advocate for the tobacco industry's interests among the government and senators. He has two close friends—Polly (played by Maria Bello), who represents the alcohol industry, and Bobby (played by David Koechner), who represents the arms industry. Their similar professional backgrounds make the three of them close friends, often discussing how to handle protests from environmental groups and other organizations, as well as tricks to navigate the government and senators. On the intertwined stage of politics and business, they stage one captivating performance after another.
