The title of "The Measure of a Man" is derived from a famous Plato quote: "The measure of a man is what he does with power." The plot follows a middle-aged unemployed father who struggles to find work. After enduring various humiliating interviews and training sessions, he finally lands a job as a security guard at a supermarket, a position he despises but which grants him the ultimate power to monitor customers and his peers. However, he is forced to identify the thieves in the supermarket, individuals who, like him, are struggling to make ends meet... This film is the third collaboration between Vincent Lindon and director Stéphane Brizé. Aside from Lindon, the rest of the cast consists entirely of non-professionals, which gives the film a unique dramatic strength and has been praised as Stéphane Brizé's best work to date.
