Marmee (Laura Dern) has four beautiful daughters. The eldest, Meg (Emma Watson), possesses a lovely appearance and an innocent longing for love. The second daughter, Jo (Saoirse Ronan), is full of quirky ideas and spends her days scribbling with her dip pen; her stories are warmly welcomed by the whole family. The third daughter, Amy (Florence Pugh), aspires to be a painter. The youngest daughter, Beth (Eliza Scanlen), is more introverted compared to her three sisters but possesses outstanding musical talent.
Under Marmee's guidance, the four girls gradually grow into exceptional women with independent personalities; they are passionate, optimistic, and kind, each forging ahead with strength and determination along their own paths.
