The story of five crew members battling against fierce winds and gigantic waves in the vast ocean. Among them is the captain, a man named Billy (played by George Clooney). He has just met a new girlfriend and desperately needs money to start a new life. However, the fishing yields in the nearby waters have been poor. Besides the captain, the other four crew members all need money to maintain their personal lives. Therefore, they decide to sail to a far-off area, aiming for its rich fishing resources. Seeking fortune through risk, although Billy knows there might be a storm ahead, he resolutely continues onwards. However, the reality is worse than he imagined: the storm is exceptionally violent, and they are facing the toughest challenge of their fishing careers. Friendship and love are strengthened in this storm.
