The young and capable Rowena Price (Halle Berry) is a journalist for the New York Post, committed to justice and fiercely opposed to evil. After a story about a Senate gay sex scandal is pulled, Rowena erupts in anger and quits her job. That evening, she unexpectedly meets her childhood friend Grace, whom she hasn't seen in years, but a week later learns that Grace has died under mysterious circumstances. Before her death, Grace mentioned the name of advertising mogul Harrison Hill (Bruce Willis), with whom she had an online relationship and an affair. After being dumped, Grace threatened to reveal the affair to Harrison's wife. Rowena determines that this is a murder case and enlists the help of her colleague at the newspaper—who is also a digital expert—Miles (Giovanni Ribisi) to investigate. A cat-and-mouse game ensues...
