Mr. X (Daniel Craig) is a highly successful drug trafficking elite, but just as he is about to retire early after achieving fame and fortune, the trade refuses to let him go easily. His major client, Jimmy (Kenneth Cranham), brings him two jobs: to find the missing daughter of his rival Eddie (Michael Gambon), and to help the Duke successfully offload a large quantity of ecstasy. This task seems like a piece of cake, but while tracking down Eddie's daughter, Mr. X learns from Eddie that there’s more to the story. It turns out Jimmy is an undercover cop, and this operation is designed to put Mr. X behind bars. As Mr. X begins the second task, he inadvertently discovers the Duke has made dangerous enemies with ruthless Serbians because of the ecstasy. As events unfold, Mr. X realizes he has unknowingly ventured deep into peril, and the quiet retirement he envisioned seems increasingly distant and difficult. Just like his name suggests, the biggest unknown now is whether he can escape this crisis unscathed... This film is adapted from J.J. Connolly's novel of the same name.
