The somewhat well-known manga artist Aiko Kojima (played by Rie Miyazawa) has toiled hard and finally completed her latest serialization on time. When she wakes up from her stupor, she discovers that her beloved cat has already stopped breathing. This event deeply affects the manga artist, leaving her distraught, unable to eat or drink, and looking haggard. This worries her longtime editor, Osamu (played by Keishi Nagatsuka). Osamu tries to cheer her up and takes Kojima for a walk at Inokashira Park, where she unexpectedly encounters a homeless man with a kitten. The kitten is weak and ill, and ultimately, Kojima nurses it back to health, while the homeless man entrusts this little life to the cat-loving manga artist. Named "Gugu," the little creature arrives at Kojima's home, and a warm story unfolds... This film is adapted from the namesake manga by Yumiko Oshima, which had previously been adapted into a movie.
