In a bustling metropolis, lives an unnoticed little manga artist named Satoru Fujinuma (played by Ryuhei Matsuda). He makes a living working in a restaurant, but beneath his ordinary appearance lies a unique ability. He unintentionally enters a state of “replay,” where, just before an accident occurs, he can briefly rewind time. To let time flow smoothly, he must resolve the key point of the accident. After a car accident, his mother from Hokkaido comes to visit him, but soon she is brutally murdered in his apartment. While evading police capture, Satoru enters “replay” and unexpectedly returns to his elementary school days in 1988.
