"Man Down" tells the story of Gabriel Drummer, played by Shia LaBeouf, who is tormented and destroyed by war, loss, and a series of events that shatter his inner world. This latest film directed by Dito Montiel (known for "Guidance of Saints") offers a brutal subjective perspective, deeply analyzing the shattered inner world of the "hero" to help viewers understand the inner trauma that plagues soldiers returning from combat. Gabriel Drummer (played by Shia LaBeouf) is a husband, a father, and a Marine. Of course, these identities exist only before the collapse of human society. Now, Gabriel wanders through a post-apocalyptic land, struggling to survive in a harsh environment filled with danger and sacrifice alongside his battle-worn comrade Davin Roberts (played by Jai Courtney). At the same time, Gabriel is also fighting his own memories: the horrifying recollections of his experiences in Afghanistan; his beloved wife Natalie (played by Kate Mara) and their marriage teetering on the edge of collapse; and the intermittent conversations with Captain Peyton, the military psychologist (played by Gary Oldman). Surrounded by these memories, anger and regret drive Gabriel to exhaust all means he knows to reclaim everything he has lost.
