Born on Long Island, white youth Eugene Martone (played by Ralph Macchio) possesses extraordinary talent in classical guitar, but he is deeply passionate about the blues, especially fascinated by the legendary black blues singer Robert Johnson (played by Tim Ross). It is said that Johnson recorded 30 songs during his lifetime, but only the first 29 have been passed down. In search of that lost song, he tracks down Johnson's former partner—Willy Brown (played by Joe Seneca), a member of the former blues band "Blind Dog Fulton," even going so far as to enter the nursing home where Brown resides as a handyman. Through music, the old man and the young man bridge the gap between them, with Willy seizing the opportunity to have Martone help him escape the nursing home. They are about to embark on a journey to the birthplace of Blind Dog Fulton in Mississippi, searching for the devil who once made deals with musicians, in pursuit of that lost legendary song...
