Dan Evans (played by Christian Bale) lost a leg in the Civil War and received a small compensation from the government. He lives with his wife Alice and their two sons on a farm in Arizona. However, the harsh climate and rampant corruption have left Dan deeply in debt, and some people are looking to make a fortune from railroad construction. They try every means to drive the Evans family away, leading the family to question Dan's abilities. At this time, the infamous western criminal Ben Wade (played by Russell Crowe) is captured. He had previously roamed the wilderness with his deputy Charlie Prince (played by Ben Foster) and a gang, robbing and committing countless murders. Captured Ben Wade will be escorted to Contanson Town and put on a train to Yuma, Arizona, where he will face a public trial in federal court. To save his farm and family, Dan volunteers to join the escort team, but even in chains, Ben Wade remains dangerous. The escort team suffers continuous losses during the journey. What will happen when the train arrives?
