The young photographer Nakahara Wataru (played by Jun Matsumoto) is struggling alone in Tokyo and stands at a crossroads in his life. One day, he is assigned by his magazine to return to his hometown, Hagi City in Yamaguchi Prefecture, for a photo shoot. Though he feels no attachment to this seaside town, which he sees as lacking in character, he has no choice but to set off. His long-absent fisherman father (played by Hayato Kunimura), his divorced sister Minami (played by Naho Toda) who has returned home, and his precocious nephew Kota (played by Kaito Takahashi), who is still in elementary school, do not evoke any deep feelings for his hometown. During a visit to his alma mater, he unexpectedly reunites with his ex-girlfriend Natsuki (played by Nana Eikura), who has become a teacher at the school. Under Natsuki's strong influence, Wataru is forced to accompany the elementary school choir she conducts on the piano. In preparation for the NHK nationwide school choir competition, Natsuki and the children work tirelessly. As this process unfolds, Wataru and those around him begin to shift emotionally, and dreams that once felt distant seem to come into focus...
