Langzi (René Lefèvre) has worked as a clerk in a printing factory for his whole life. Aside from his formal job, he has a heart to become a writer and often writes comics and novels in his spare time. One day, Langzi's boss, Baltas (Jules Berry), chooses to flee after being exposed for corruption and fraud but disappears in a car accident. To maintain the normal operations of the printing factory, Langzi is appointed as the temporary manager. With Langzi and the other employees’ efforts, the factory, which was on the brink of bankruptcy, not only avoided closure but also turned a decent profit. One day, boss Baltas suddenly appears before Langzi. Surviving against the odds, he attempts to seize all of Langzi and the workers' hard-earned results and even wants to take Langzi's girlfriend for himself.
