When Aamir Khan is in town, who can rival him? Recently released, the Indian film "Delhi Belly," produced by Aamir Khan's production company, does not feature him in the cast, but with him as a driving force behind the scenes, the film has been highly anticipated since its inception, as if everyone was waiting for a cinematic event. Now that the film is officially released, how does it perform? One can only say: if you are used to Hollywood or Hong Kong comedies, it might not resonate much; it can merely be considered a decently made film. However, from the perspective of Bollywood cinema, it is indeed quite unconventional, with a hint of Quentin Tarantino's style, blending humor with absurdity, catering to a modern young audience. The film can be seen as developing along two lines: one follows the male lead Imran Khan and his two male roommates; he is a reporter being pressured by his parents and girlfriend to marry while seemingly having an affair with a female reporter. The other line involves a gang boss waiting to collect contraband, only to receive a bag of "poop"! How are these seemingly unrelated stories intertwined? The film has good explanations and is quite logical, which you'll understand when you watch it. In terms of the script, "Delhi Belly" is indeed very complete; regarding filming techniques, it's smooth and straightforward, making it one of the better Indian films of the year. However, due to the high expectations set by Aamir Khan, those who have watched it may feel disappointed. The lesson from this event is—if you don't have a big head, don't wear a big hat. But releasing a product inevitably involves promotion, which may even exaggerate expectations, so viewers should be mentally prepared. "Delhi Belly" can be considered one of the new wave films led by a new generation of Indian directors; while it may not mean much to seasoned viewers, it is a practical action towards change in Bollywood, and is of a higher standard than traditional Bollywood films, thus it deserves support.
