In 1957, college student Hoshin Jun (played by Wu Shengyi) came to Hokkaido to visit his father's friend, Matsumoto Akio (played by Hamamura Jun). At Mr. Matsumoto's home, he met his stepdaughter Kayako (played by Minami Kaho), who was in high school. Over ten years earlier, during the chaotic period following World War II, Kayako was abandoned by her biological parents and was later adopted by the Matsumoto couple, who were Korean. Their brief encounter created an unspoken bond between Jun and Kayako. Although they were separated by distance, with Jun in Tokyo and Kayako in Hokkaido, they continued to communicate through letters. However, war and ethnic tensions acted like an invisible wall between them. Jun's father, Kyu-soo (played by Kato Takeji), could not forget the humiliation and hatred associated with their ethnicity, and even as a victor, he continued to be tormented by past wounds. Kayako's adoptive mother, although Korean, opposed her daughter's relationship with a Korean and firmly disapproved of her love for Jun. Love seemed selfish, as it was not just a matter of the two of them… This film is adapted from the original work by Lee Hyo-seung.
