In the historic port city of Kobe, the story of a female foreign merchant quietly unfolds. Shijima Shizuku (played by Yuko Takeuchi), the only female employee in the foreign trade department of Fukumaruhonpo Kobe Motomachi Store, starts from the bottom. With her relentless efforts, she transitions from a contract worker to a full-time employee and is viewed by the legendary foreign representative Mr. Yanatori (played by Masao Kusakari) as the most likely successor. However, an unprecedented crisis suddenly strikes; the company demands that she achieve a monthly sales target of 15 million yen, or she will face the fate of dismissal. Shijima runs at full speed, but she finds her efforts yielding little result, leading to feelings of despair. Through Mr. Yanatori's introduction, she moves into a luxurious residence vacated by a client and shares it with a colleague from a wealthy background, Masuya Shuhei (played by Koichi Saito), gradually realizing the hardships and truths of foreign merchants... The film is adapted from the eponymous original work by En Takadono.
