Yabo (played by Louis Garrel) and Marianne (played by Laetitia Casta) meet in college, and the two young lovers fall in love at first sight. They quickly become a couple and move in together, beginning their cohabitation. One day, Marianne tells Yabo that she is pregnant, and before Yabo can feel joy about it, Marianne reveals shocking news: the child in her womb is not Yabo's, but is actually Yabo's best friend Paul's.
