In the early Meiji period, the strong-willed Ami (played by Yuki Amami) was sent back home after being divorced and was arranged by her brother to remarry Iwajiro (played by Katsuhisa Namase), the owner of Suzuki Store in Kobe, which primarily dealt with sugar. Unlike the miserly and harsh nature of the family head, Ami's gentle approach earned the affection of the staff, particularly Naoyoshi Kaneko (played by Shun Oguri) from Tosa, who saw Ami as a mentor in life. After Iwajiro's death, Ami decided to continue managing Suzuki Store, relying on and trusting Naoyoshi as the helmsman of the store. With increased responsibilities, Naoyoshi showcased his talents, overcoming initial setbacks in the camphor business and proving his worth in the ensuing business adventures. Spanning the tumultuous Meiji and Taisho eras, Suzuki Store saw its sales soar, becoming a leading comprehensive enterprise. Amidst glory and storms, Ami and Naoyoshi embarked on their voyage together... This film is adapted from the original work by Kaoru Tamaoka.
