Lai Yawhui (Tony Leung) and Ho Baorong (Leslie Cheung) are a pair of homosexual lovers. In search of a new beginning, they leave Hong Kong for Argentina, filled with beautiful dreams (to see the waterfalls of South America), but they get lost in Buenos Aires. Lai Yawhui wants to settle down and live a stable life, but Ho Baorong indulges himself in a night of revelry to seek more excitement, treating Lai Yawhui as his haven after being hurt. Their differences and arguments increase, and the distance between their hearts grows ever wider. When Lai Yawhui realizes that the past cannot be restored, he decides to leave Ho Baorong.
