A film based on HBO's hit series "The Sopranos" is set to be released, with New Line producing the prequel movie [The Many Saints of Newark]. Original series creator and executive producer David Chase, along with writer Lawrence Konner, are working on the script for the new film, with David Chase as the producer. The story is set in the 1960s in Newark, a time when violence and gang conflicts were rampant. The original series aired from 1999 to 2007, spanning six seasons and winning 21 Emmy Awards and 5 Golden Globe Awards. Original stars James Gandolfini and Frank Vincent both passed away in 2013 and last year, respectively. It has been reported that several familiar characters from the original series will appear on the big screen.
