Due to her mother being ill in bed, elementary school graduate Dongdong (Wang Qiguang) takes his sister Tingting (Li Shuzhen) to their grandfather's house in the countryside for summer vacation. While enjoying happy times with local children, he gradually encounters various aspects of the adult world. Uncle (Chen Bozheng) hides a wanted criminal in his room, and Dongdong's love for the same girl infuriates his grandfather; a mad woman (Yang Liyin), whom everyone fears, befriends Tingting and saves her life; to treat the mad woman, grandfather does not go to Taipei to visit his critically ill daughter... Although Dongdong is an understanding child, it is still difficult for him to digest all of this.
