The hot summer has passed, and the leaves on the branches are slowly turning red. In Central Park, squirrels and raccoons have discovered that the nuts stored for winter are far from sufficient, and this group of small animals may face an unprecedented famine. Squirrel Surly (voiced by Will Arnett) and Andy (voiced by Katherine Heigl) are tasked with finding nuts; they plan to rob a nut truck, but this leads to a major disaster, resulting in the precious nuts going up in flames. Afterwards, Surly is exiled, with only his mouse friend Buddy (voiced by Robert Tinkler) sticking by him. Meanwhile, Andy sets off with his overly confident companion Grayson to find nuts. Ultimately, Andy and Surly reunite in a nut shop rich in supplies, where the mastermind behind it all turns out to be a notorious and vicious criminal. The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware that a group of small animals is preparing to rob them…
