Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, "I Am Not Your Negro" explores the bloody history of the American civil rights movement. Since its release, it has stood out, sweeping several international film festivals for Best Documentary and Audience Awards, and it has also received an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature. It was selected as one of BBC's 10 must-see films of 2017 and topped annual best film recommendations by various media outlets in the United States. The film is adapted from the unfinished manuscript "Remember This House" by African American writer James Baldwin. The work recalls the events of the 1960s civil rights movement and the assassinations of his close friends—three major spiritual leaders: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unfortunately, Baldwin passed away from stomach cancer before completing the work, and the remaining manuscript found its way to Haitian director Raoul Peck, resulting in this pivotal visual account of the American civil rights movement!
