The handsome Kiyoshi Mitarai (played by Hiroshi Tamaki) possesses a genius-level IQ; he is both a neuroscientist and a detective. One day, Mitarai hears a rather bizarre story from his writer friend, Kazuki Ishigaki (played by Koichi Domoto). On a night of pouring rain, a woman in a white dress walks with a red umbrella. She arrives at a crossroads but does not cross according to the traffic light. The woman then places the umbrella in the middle of the road and allows passing vehicles to crush it. Mitarai quickly deduces that a bloody murder incident has occurred in the vicinity where the woman was seen, and to prove his judgment, he reports to the police overnight. The next morning, Mitarai's reasoning is validated. However, unexpectedly, the body of the white-dressed woman, who was the prime suspect, is soon discovered… This film is adapted from Shoji Shimada's original work "The Woman Who Folds Umbrellas."
