The story takes place in the late 19th century. Juan (Julio Alemán) is the illegitimate son of the estate owner Francisco. An accident takes Francisco's life, which means that Juan's existence will forever remain a secret. To protect her son Andrés (Manuel Gil), Francisco's wife Sofia sends Andrés to study in France. Years pass quickly, and Andrés returns from France, where he meets a girl named Aimee (Angélica María). Unbeknownst to Andrés, Aimee is also in an ambiguous relationship with Juan. When Juan learns that Aimee is about to marry Andrés, he coerces and lures Aimee's sister Monica to marry him, which rapidly deteriorates the relationship between Juan and Andrés.
