Geniuses and madmen are often just two descriptions of the same person. Detective Chen Guibin (played by Liu Qingyun) is such a character; like the genius painter Van Gogh, he once severed his own ear. Despite solving countless cases and having extraordinary detective abilities, he is ultimately deemed a madman by society, retiring early from the police force.
Agent He Jia'an (played by Andy On) has received a tricky case. The incident took place in the woods, where two officers, Wang Guozhu (played by Li Guolin) and Gao Zhiwei (played by Lam Ka Tung), investigated, but only Gao Zhiwei returned safely, while Wang Guozhu and his gun mysteriously disappeared. He Jia'an invites Chen Guibin for guidance, but unexpectedly, Chen Guibin's "madman" behavior again reveals itself during the investigation. He concludes that Gao Zhiwei is the murderer, basing his reasoning on a large amount of his own imagination. He claims to see Gao Zhiwei's "seven deadly sins," which led him down the path of crime. However, convincing He Jia'an of all this is not easy, as he has already been deceived by Gao Zhiwei's acting skills...
