In the blink of an eye, Apu (played by Smaran Ghosal) has grown up, but life has not become any more forgiving. Shortly after moving to Banaras with his parents, Apu's father leaves the family forever, and thus, Apu and his mother begin a life depending on each other. His mother hopes Apu will become a priest, but Apu does not share this belief; he wishes to attend a proper school. Eventually, his mother concedes to Apu's wishes. Apu does not disappoint his mother; he proves his hard work and efforts with excellent grades and a bright future. Apu receives the chance to go to college, but for his impoverished family, this news is both joy and anguish, leading to a fierce argument between Apu and his mother. In this instance, what choice will Apu and his mother make between family ties and the future?
