Evan (Ben Stiller) is a store manager in the town and is very active in community affairs. However, the store's security guard is murdered, and the local police are indifferent to the investigation, disrupting Evan's life. He is determined to find the killer himself. Evan turns his attention to his neighbors and forms a neighborhood watch group with Bob (Vince Vaughn), Franklin (Jonah Hill), and Jamarcus (Richard Ayoade), who are also frustrated in their lives. They patrol the town every day, using the excuse to occasionally let loose. During one patrol in their car, they unexpectedly discover a strange metallic ball, and at the same time, several mysterious deaths occur in the town. The watch group manages to subdue an alien creature that attacks them and learns that aliens have invaded the town, disguising themselves as humans by stealing their skins and launching an assault. The group realizes that action is imminent but is in a fog because anyone in the town could be an alien. Even more terrifying is the aliens' ultimate goal: to destroy the entire Earth. Can the neighborhood watch group, upon learning all of this, thwart the aliens' conspiracy with just the four of them...?
