Lyon (played by Michel Auclair) was once a revolutionary fighter on the battlefield. After the war ended, he unexpectedly encountered the defenseless girl Manon (played by Cécile Aubry) who was in a dangerous situation. Fortunately, with Lyon's timely rescue, Manon was able to stay safe. Lyon then took Manon back to Paris; however, the war had plunged France's economy into a deep depression, and the money Lyon earned was not enough to support both of them.
