The film tells five stories about the Italian mafia Gomorrah: a 13-year-old boy Toto (played by Salvatore Abruzzese) is gradually corrupted; Marco (played by Marco Macor) and Ciro (played by Ciro Petrone) aim for dominance but end up dead in the streets; because her husband is involved in crime, Maria (played by Maria Nazionale) is imprisoned, leaving her child in the care of gang associate Frank (played by Toni Servillo); the mafia’s accountant Don Ciro (played by Gianfelice Imparato) loses his life for betraying a friend; a tailor at the mafia's textile factory, Pasquale (played by Salvatore Cantalupo), brings trouble upon himself by teaching Chinese. The film won the Jury Prize at the 61st Cannes Film Festival.
