In the first half of the 20th century, British colonial rule in India was nearing its end. Various social systems and revolutionary undercurrents sweeping across the world resulted in India entering one of its most turbulent periods. Wasseypur, located in the center of Dhanbad, became a symbol of chaos and riots. The strong and powerful Shahid Khan (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui) sparked a conflict by impersonating the Qureshi clan's Sultan and hijacking a train, which ultimately led to his expulsion from Wasseypur. After a series of twists, he worked for coal baron Ramadhir Singh (played by Tigmanshu Dhulia), but was killed by Singh due to his plotted coup, narrowly avoiding implicating his family.
