During the Edo period, weary of endless slaughter, the freedom-loving Iga ninja Kamei (played by Kenichi Matsuyama) chooses to flee, consequently becoming the target of relentless pursuit by his former comrades. One day, while evading the pursuit of Matsuyama's lord Mizutani Gunbei (played by Koichi Sato), Kamei meets the fisherman Hanbei (played by Kaoru Kobayashi), who has previously severed the lord's horse's leg, and together they return to a hideaway in Kinjima. Hanbei's wife Sayaka (played by Koyuki) was once a runaway ninja herself, and Kamei's arrival makes her wary. Soon, Hanbei is reported by a neighbor, captured by the lord, and prepared for execution. Kamei and Sayaka team up to storm the execution site to rescue Hanbei. This act draws the attention of the Iga ninjas, who have been tracking them, making a fateful confrontation inevitable... This film is based on the second part of the namesake original work by Japanese manga artist Sanpei Shirato.
