Alice (Kate Winslet) lives in the countryside of London, England, while Amanda (Cameron Diaz) is a Californian beauty from Los Angeles. Despite being on opposite sides of the world, they find themselves facing the same issue: emotional setbacks that leave their lives dull and gray. They chat online and decide to swap homes for the holiday season, each experiencing the other's environment as a vacation spot. Thus, an exciting journey begins.
