Mona, a Northern Sudanese, was once a singer but withdrew from the music scene after getting married. While her life appears respectable, she is tormented by a secret: she indirectly caused a murder. To ease her guilt, she takes in the widow and son of the deceased, Julia and Daniel, who come from Southern Sudan and have lost their livelihood. In both family and society, an unexpected yet crisis-laden friendship develops between the two completely different women.
