John, a senior executive at a multinational investment bank in Hong Kong, receives a ransom email threatening to expose confidential financing analyses of a leading technology company if he does not pay approximately HKD 190,000 within three days. To protect the company's reputation and the interests of its clients, John secretly seeks help. He contacts his former university dormmate, Detective Tang, for assistance in the investigation. One of the heads of the confidential financing analysis, Muye, suddenly goes missing and becomes the main suspect. During the investigation, it is discovered that this confidential document was stolen from the intranet, and a junior staff member, Azh, had sought help from the computer department, leading John to arrange for the entire team to be monitored around the clock in a luxury apartment suite by Tang and his subordinates, ensuring that the ransom transaction goes smoothly. However, the kidnappers' actions are unusually strange; the ransom amount is relatively small, and their instructions are chaotic. As the investigation deepens, Tang uncovers Azh's complex family background and the frequent appearances of a mysterious figure. Meanwhile, senior executives at the technology company are forced to leave their positions due to delays in the development of a new generation of online platforms, even becoming elusive. Is there a connection between these events? The delays in development could lead to financing failures and even trigger a collapse in global stock markets. Ultimately, the kidnappers demand that John use online auctions to pay the ransom. Can Tang understand the mindset of the new generation of online users? Will he manage to solve this case discreetly without full knowledge of the circumstances? And does Azh know who the real culprit is? Why is the real culprit framing him? All these puzzles will gradually be revealed during the investigation.
