In a mansion in Yamashina, Kyoto, the body of Masahiko Kajita (Dan Jiro), president of the major manufacturer "Kajita Heavy Industries," was found bludgeoned to death. Upon receiving the news, the members of the Kyoto Prefectural Police's "Special Investigation Division," led by Satoshi Itomura (Takahiro Kamikawa), rushed to the scene. Masahiko had been away from the company for six months for health reasons, retreating to his childhood home in Yamashina, but it was rumored that his illness was merely an excuse. He apparently intended for his eldest son and vice president, Hajime (Ippei Kanie), and his second son and executive officer, Osamu (Yasuyuki Maekawa), to compete in management skills for six months to decide the next president. The event took place on the "fateful day" to select the next president, and the two employees discovered the body while bringing financial statements to evaluate the brothers. After the incident, both Hajime and Osamu were completely uncontactable, leading the "Special Division" members to consider that one of the rival brothers might be involved in the crime. Amidst this, Itomura discovered a separate room on the premises. It was an old Western-style room filled with furniture and decorations from the Showa era, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. An LP record remained playing on the stereo, and a once-popular doll, the "Blondie Family," was left behind. This doll hit the market in the Heisei era, and Itomura felt something was amiss with the one Heisei item in the midst of the Showa-themed space. Hajime and Osamu were finally contacted and claimed that Masahiko had a mistress, a management consultant named Momoko Makimura (Rie Mimura). They suspected that the quest for the next president was a "fixed race" orchestrated by Masahiko, who wanted to bring her into management. Momoko appeared to be quite capable and calmly denied being a mistress when visited by Itomura. However, Itomura didn't miss the moment of her brief agitation when he showed her the Blondie Family doll... As the detailed analysis by forensic researcher Shigeru Muraki (Masahiro Koamoto) progressed, it became apparent that the separate room was filled with items from "Showa 48." Furthermore, a mysterious woman resembling a "second wife" named Miyaji Sugimoto (Hideo Haruhide) also emerged…!?
