Bob Wilton (played by Ewan McGregor) is a failed American journalist who, in desperation, travels to the Middle East hoping to infiltrate Iraq for war coverage to win back his estranged wife. In Kuwait, Bob encounters a private contractor, Lynn Cassady (played by George Clooney), whom he had heard about during previous interviews, and pleads with him to help him cross the border. Lynn was once a special forces soldier in the U.S. Army's "New Earth Army," seeking "Jedi powers" under the unconventional training methods of Vietnam veteran hippie Bill Django (played by Jeff Bridges) to defeat enemies with mental prowess; until soldier Larry Hopper (played by Kevin Spacey) joined and changed the training philosophy of the "New Earth Army." Bob follows Lynn in Iraq, experiencing a series of comical incidents and events. Does Lynn really possess "Jedi powers"?
