The American tugboat Ocean Star encounters a rare and powerful typhoon in the South Pacific. As the ship faces imminent destruction and loss of life, the crew struggles to steer into the eye of the typhoon to seek temporary refuge. In this calm area of the ocean, they discover a Russian research vessel named Vekhof. The ship is deserted, and the atmosphere is eerie, leading the crew to sense that some entity is watching them from the shadows. Soon, they find a Russian woman who reveals that the Mia Space Station, collaborating with Vekhof for research, has been attacked by mysterious alien life forms. These entities have invaded Vekhof's systems through electrical interference, hijacking the ship and learning human knowledge at an alarming rate. Their sole purpose is to eliminate humanity.
