After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Japanese army took advantage of the situation, wantonly killing and plundering our compatriots, leaving the people filled with hatred. Unfortunately, the isolated forces were weak against the invaders. The Japanese army advanced into the Central Plains, with the vanguard arriving at the crucial fortress: Maijia Village. The Japanese commander Ichiro Noda originally thought that the small Maijia Village would surrender easily in the face of the powerful Japanese army and its mechanized forces. However, at the most critical moment, Maijia's father contacted villagers from neighboring villages to form a guerrilla team, using nitrate, sulfur, and charcoal to make gunpowder and create landmines, fiercely resisting the Japanese. In no time, the Japanese army suffered multiple defeats and was terrified of the Maijia landmines. Noda, cunning and treacherous, decided to capture Chinese people en masse, threatening some cowardly individuals to become traitors and infiltrate the Maijia guerrilla team. The agile and clever kid Xiaozhi, eager to fight alongside his father, was stopped by his dad, who believed that Xiaozhi should focus on studying and become more accomplished in the future. With a firm resolve to serve his country, Xiaozhi stealthily joined his grandfather's troupe to perform patriotic plays in the Japanese-held Liangcheng, awakening the people's dormant patriotism, but unfortunately got captured. In prison, Xiaozhi met the communist party member Xu Sandong, disguised as a major traitor, who had infiltrated the enemy ranks. With Sandong's help, Xiaozhi escaped near death and became a small undercover agent. Xiaozhi looked for opportunities to feign flattery towards the Japanese army while using inherited traditional Chinese medicine skills, quickly becoming a favorite in Noda's eyes. At the same time, Noda successfully bribed villager Cai Ding to act as a spy in the guerrilla group. This led to a situation where an undercover agent was countered by another undercover agent. After Xiaozhi's grandfather and several villagers were captured, Xiaozhi's father decided to launch a nighttime raid on the Japanese headquarters to rescue them. However, Cai Ding informed Noda about the plan. The Japanese army decided to play along, tying villagers to wooden stakes, putting on soldiers' clothing while dressing their own soldiers in villagers' outfits, intending to destroy the guerrilla team when they arrived. As night fell, Xiaozhi saw his grandfather and the other villagers being dressed in Japanese military attire and became anxious, while the grandfather and villagers mistakenly believed Xiaozhi had betrayed them for personal gain. Xiaozhi struggled internally. When the ambush team arrived, thanks to Xiaozhi's cleverness, he climbed up the city wall and used a searchlight to signal in Morse code, alerting his father to retreat safely. Noda, seeing the searchlight's Morse code, became suspicious and Xiaozhi framed Noda's confidant, Xiao Chun, who took the blame. Cai Ding spread news again that the guerrilla team had run out of gunpowder and lacked materials, deciding to infiltrate the Japanese military camp to steal gunpowder. Xiaozhi and Sandong worked in tandem, employing the tactic of separating the enemy from their base to successfully obtain gunpowder together with the guerrilla team. Finally, they acquired the gunpowder and discovered the Japanese army's landmines. However, the Japanese reconnaissance team was ordered to come, and Xiaozhi again used a kite to send messages, but it was sabotaged by Xiao Chun. Noda grew suspicious of everyone and dragged Xiao Chun, Sandong, Xiaozhi, and others to play games. Xiaozhi was overwhelmed and unable to send out messages, leaving Maijia Village in grave danger. In desperation, Xiaozhi again used his imaginative thinking to devise a brilliant plan to send out information; however, he was unsure if his father would notice the details of the message sent out. There was no other way, so he took a risk. The Japanese army gathered troops, with the reconnaissance team led by Captain Kitaguchi, and Noda couldn't help but feel triumphant. Xiaozhi noticed Kitaguchi and Xiao Chun competing for Noda's favor and used discord to create a rift between them. The two fought for credit, trying to locate the landmines, but Xiaozhi's father had already received news and bought old pots and scrap iron in the fields. Instead of finding the landmines, they triggered one, calling for help. The Japanese army was trapped by the landmine barrage and suffered many casualties. Noda had to sound the retreat and reconsider. Not willing to accept repeated defeats, and following Cai Ding's reminder, he realized there was an undercover agent around him and began to distrust everyone. That night, Noda reassembled troops, intending to sneak attack Maijia Village under the cover of darkness, using the grandfather and villagers as bait to trigger the landmines. The grandfather and others were resolved to face death, and although Xiaozhi felt sad, he could not show it. More importantly, he needed to find a way to inform his father. As they were about to enter the minefield, Xiaozhi suddenly devised an extraordinary plan, leading his father and the guerrilla team to rescue the villagers. Noda returned to the camp, furious, and focused his suspicion on Xiaozhi, Xiao Chun, Sandong, and Kitaguchi. Noda decided to take everyone to the ultimate interrogation site—the Castle of Wind Noise. He employed various methods from the movie "Wind Noise" on everyone. Although they all ended in jest, Noda's policy of "better to kill the wrong person than to let one go" tightened its grip. Xiaozhi and Sandong decided to make one last stand, and eventually managed to escape, but Sandong was shot. Xiaozhi vowed to avenge Sandong and the countless others killed by Noda, driving them out of Maijia Village and, in the future, expelling all Japanese devils from China. Xiaozhi returned to Maijia Village with the main task of identifying the undercover agent within the guerrilla team. Xiaozhi and his father acted in concert, with his father intentionally resigning from the position of guerrilla leader, enduring humiliation to secretly identify the undercover agent Cai Ding. At this point, Noda had lost patience with the game and finally employed his trump card—tanks. Noda gathered 50 tanks to march towards Maijia Village, intending to level it to the ground. The battle between landmines and tanks was about to commence! Xiaozhi used landmines to blow up the first tank in line. His father detonated stone mines, burying the mountain and trapping all Japanese tanks in Maijia Village, unable to move. The villagers set numerous fire piles, burning their homes, and in an instant, Maijia Village became an ocean of flames. The tanks overheated, with some exploding on their own, and Japanese soldiers fleeing from the tanks caught fire. Amidst the inferno, tears filled everyone's eyes. Under the leadership of Xiaozhi and his father, the guerrilla team ultimately defeated the Japanese army and successfully defended Maijia Village, turning it into a sea of joy.
