The film is a remake of the 1999 Danish film of the same name "First Love Begins with a Hiccup." High school freshman Vido (played by Devon Werkheiser) develops a crush on sophomore Anya (played by Scout Taylor-Compton). However, Anya is already dating Peter, who drives a Porsche. Vido's friends Torg and Nicolai do not support his pursuit of Anya. One day, Vido gathers the courage to invite Anya to the school dance, and Anya's best friend Giddy encourages everyone to join. At the dance, Vido hiccups uncontrollably, and Anya jokes that if he continues, she will kiss him forcibly. As a result, Vido actually stops hiccupping. Vido accidentally hears about Peter bribing Giddy to set up a situation that would lead to Anya losing her virginity, so he decides to intervene.
