Every morning, my mother always wakes up before me; she prepares my lunch first and then leaves. Every evening, my mother comes home only after having dinner outside, and after quietly grooming herself, she returns to her own room, turns on the radio, closes the door, and goes to sleep at nine o'clock. We live in the same space, but for decades, we have been like strangers under the same roof, the only connection being the food she prepares for me; there are no warm greetings, no heartfelt conversations between mother and daughter, no "I love you."
