In America, 1886, a pair of orphaned siblings of Irish descent, 12-year-old Tom and 9-year-old Mary, embark on an ocean voyage to the bustling New York City to inherit a legacy. On the train, they encounter a disabled boy who cannot move or speak, and the three friends embark on a perilous cross-country journey together... One of the film's directors, Pedro Solis, is a well-known Spanish 3D animator, who has won the Best Animated Short Film at the Spanish Goya Awards twice, with the 2014 award-winning short "The Little Rope" setting a Guinness World Record for the most-awarded short in history. "Son of the Water Buffalo" inherits the worldview of "The Little Rope," and the disabled boy in the film is likewise inspired by the director's late son, Nick. The director has poured all his emotions into the film, creating an adventurous, humorous, and heartfelt masterpiece.
