The story follows the life of Ernesto Freddy, a Bolivian of Japanese descent who participated in the guerrilla forces of Cuban revolutionary hero Che Guevara and was named "Ernesto" by Guevara. Born in October 1941 into a wealthy family, Ernesto Maekawa Freddy witnessed the vast social inequalities during his youth and often showed concern for his poor friends. Determined to help humanity, he decided to study medicine and met Che Guevara in medical school, which changed the course of his life. Later, upon hearing about the military coup in his homeland of Bolivia, Ernesto Freddy joined Guevara's guerrilla movement, committing himself to sacrificing his life for his people.
